C Gas is a 9.60 index class on a pro tree and Hot Rod is dial your own - bracket racing on a sportsman tree . bring it out and see what it runs !

BTW, the other guys forgot to mention that if you run as quick as 9.99 you will likely be sent home immediately.
From the sound of your post (not been able to open it up, don't know what it will run) your car is not chassis certified and I'm guessing that you do not have a driver certification. BOTH are necessary if you expect to run quicker than 10.00 sec elapsed time. Also you need to at least read an NHRA rule book for the requirements needed to run in the 10 sec et range. Even D/G at 10.60 requires special equipment that I am guessing you do not have. (window net, blowup proof dampener, roll cage, etc)
Get a rule book and read it or you will be faceing disappointment at the track.

UP TO 11.49 OR IS 10.49 I CANT REMEMBER. YOU WILL NOT NEED A CAGE THAT REQUIRES CERTIFICATION. YOU WILL NEED A HELMET ,ROLL BAR,AFTERMARKET FLEXPLATE AND DAMPNER,IF BATTERY HAS BEEN MOVED YOU WILL HAVE TO ADD A CUT OFF SWITCH ACCESSIBLE TO SAFETY CREW.LIKE MAX SAID THE RULE BOOK WILL SHED A LOT OF LIGHT PLUS ITS REQUIRED DEPENDING ON YOUR E.T. YOUR BEST BET IS TO GET INTO HOT ROD TELL TECH YOUR GOING TO RUN 11.55 AND SEE WHERE IT GOES IF YOU GO UNDER THAT TIME THOUGH YOU WILL GET BOOTED FROM THE TRACK..RACE SAFE! KEN

Just get the rule book from NHRA and read it before you go to the track if possible.
The info Ken just gave you is incomplete at best (he has no reason to know exactly what the rules are for your car)
It is true that you are not required to have a roll bar if you are slower than 11.50 sec et (unless a convertible)
If your Chevelle runs on gas from the corner station it is likely it will not run quicker than 11.50sec et

I was being nice Ken, guess I forgot to mention that you are the best I know at the B/Gas stuff and quick cars in general.
I only have the advantage of way too much time on my hands which leads me to memorize the rule books.
As far as I know you have no need to know the exact rules for us slow cars. Don't make you a bad guy just not your territory.
Having said that, I have just been reviewing the rules I need to follow as the Rust-T is going to drop into the low 10 sec et range very soon. New engine to be installed right after the June 23rd race.
