I understand but dont think ive seen many 'aluminum buick V8 engines' at my local pick and pull. Cromo 'materials' allowed now I see. Watch out, you may get some featherweight ex jr fuel chassis in the mix. One thing for sure its NOT easy to please everyone with a new class but thats whats neat about drag racing, theres a class for everything somewhere or somehow. Oh and for what its worth, for low HP applications I'll take two shifts thank you very much to keep me in an already narrow power band, anotherwords 'advantage'? not so sure about that. Like I said, you will NEVER get everyone to agree but i still like what you're doing with this.

I know what you mean about everyone happy ;D and your right about the aluminum Buicks but I have found a BUNCH of Mopars, Fords and I think they are the small CID Oldsmobles along with the Chevys at a pull your own part yard the other day. I did leave room in the rules for a wieght minimum to be added later if necessary but I really believe the 9" slick on the untreated asphalt at Eagle Field will be an equalizer. Thanks for the input, Rocky

Rocky, would a 294 CID Early Hemi be welcome to run in C G/D ? I think one of my Desoto Hemi's would certainly be to period... Right now it has a single two barrel intake... Wha-cha think ?

YES, I think an early small hemi would be awesome! For those who have one or want to spend the $$$$ I say yes, if you start beating up on us we'll put a "PIE Crust" or smaller slick on ya ;D

Well we got our latest project home and Lee already started tearing it down. I dunno if we'll make an ANRA show with it this year but look out Eagle Field! Frames looks bent but both sides are identical? ? Shorty T350

Don't know the specific axle builder but several were made that way in effect. The idea of the thing was to allow you to set your own preference in caster by simply adjusting the upper links. The lowers acted as the base pivot.
Whoever used this one didn't subscribe to the radical caster for slingshots that was popular for so long.

I didn't measure the caster but it has a bunch built in and was designed to lay forward.

Had a 296 (283 + .090) Chevy given to me last night It ran but started bending push rod, we'll tear it down and see if we can just freshen it up! The engine also has early Corvette valve covers When you start a build friends get involved and start helpin' out, now I need a friend with a 3x2 manifold;D Photos soon, Rocky

Naw, he'll get over it ;D I drug it out in the FOG today for some better pics............... I measured the caster and it's around 15 degrees, I removed the radius rods and with the axle straight up its aroud 40 More shots that might show my concerns with the chassis Previous owner put new Wilwood brakes on it i472.photobucket.com/albums/rr84/Toymaker1/Nothing%20to%20lose%20Digger/smlhbrakes.jpg[/IMG]Lucked out on the shorty T-350 Trans I'm really lovin this car! __________________

Rocky, I still think the axle may've originally been layed out for the 40*, as that wasn't uncommon for the period. Just my take on it. That said, it looks far cooler canted forward and the 15* is much more sensible. Do me a favor if you would ..... post a shot of the frame from behind the front axle (out near the spindle a bit, but near ground level), sighting right down the bottom rail. If you could do it over a flat surface (garage floor, street, etc), that'd help as well. By the way, that thing's truly a nice looking project, I am jealous. Of course you know what I'd throw in it. ;D

Well, with the weather being so nice I got after the frame with a porta power and she's straight now, the photos don't do it justice. Lee had the wheels polished........... and a Friend donated these covers for the little 296......... I also pulled the engine down and readied it for the machine shop, only 3 months to go!

hi, new member here...
where is eagle fields located? your proposed C/GD class sounds like it would be fun and it looks like you scored a great project for that. how many times a season would that class be run?
