The pits are empty, the crowd is gone and I just got in from the track and wanted to thank all of you racers and crews that attended the Summer Nationals at Auto Club Famoso. We had a great turn out and a fantastic and mostly important SAFE race. The car count was good and things went smooth. We tried to make sure you guys did not have to spend to much time in the lanes and hope we did a good job of that we know it was warm. I really like to see the family groups camped in the pits and having a great time together. As always I have to thank the ANRA volunteers with out them we could not put on a race, the Famoso track crew is number one and the track is the best on the West coast if not the best anyplace. We had new racers I thank them along with the racers that have made all of our races and hope you all had a good time. I am going to try to post a complete run down of the race and car counts in few days. Congratulations to all the winners at a race like this there are no losers Thanks again Butch and the ANRA crew.

Seven Flawless laps. What a great day. My Viet Nam ERA digger got r done. A 1968 Don Tuttle chassis, a 15 year old motor, and Crower stacks from the 70's with a Crower barrel valve MandHtires, a great Kern Transmission and lots of support. I was blessed. Thanks. Dragster Jeff

What a great turn out. And what a great day.A little warm, but nice. I made the big mistake of getting a real short hair cut (Buzz style) Now I will be going to the burn center for some grafting ..he he he.. But all in all it was one super day..As everyone else said.. If you missed the race. Shame on you... But be there in August.. Hey Butch, How about having the Qualifiers in the AM then lunch break, Then the rounds in the afternoon and evenings. Cool that way. Not so hot...Iam going to bust my butt to get the car out there next time though. I'm tired of missing all the fun... BTW. Thanks for letting us show off our HAMBster cars..

Butch/JR/Joe
Just wanted to add our THANKS too for a great race! We would also like to THANK Blake and John Bowser for making Famoso available to us. I've always loved running Bakersfield!!!
Special THANKS also go to "Dragster" Larry Van VanOsten, JR VanOsten, John Bascom, BADAZZ Racing's backup girl (friggin memory) and others whom I'm sure this brain dead old man is forgetting for all the help at the track!
Scott, Jason, Maria, Tommy (youngest son who hasn't been to the track with us in probably 10 years) and I had a blast! Sorry we couldn't have been better competition, but that's just drag racing. First time we've ever had both cars go out in the first round. Fiat had a mechanical problem, Dragster had a driver problem.
All in all, and as usual, we had a blast being with the best group of racers in the world. ANRA is without a doubt the BEST Nostalgia Drag Racing Organization going!!! But then, I biased. Congratulations to the class winners and congratulations too to all the competitors who showed up and enjoyed what we're all about, a fun day of racing.

I just want so say what an awesome race ANRA put on this week end. Butch forgot to turn the thermostat down but that did not stop the great ANRA racers from having a lot of good family fun. I want to thank the Spence Family for letting me hang around they are a great bunch of family racers. Also want to thank Jack Ekelson for letting me help him with his neat little Hemi powered NE 3 car, he came all the way down from Auburn to race ANRA. Jack says he will be at all the ANRA events. I got to spend some time with the Cassie Family, another great group of family racers, Pop Cassie has to do something about that glare. Only complaint I heard was a guy upset because there was not enough sand and dirt on the track, oh well cant please them all. Look forward to the next ANRA race. Dragster Larry (Sparky)

THANKS TO ALL FOR THE GREAT SHOW, OF COARSE BEING WINNERS (B/G) IT MAKES ALL THAT MORE FUN. I THINK THE TEMPS WERE MORE IN 100' THAN 80'. UNFORTUNATELY OUR A/G CAR LOST THE REVERSER IN THE LANES ,NEXT TIME. ALSO BUTCH THANKS FOR THE UPPER CAPS LOOKS GREAT!

I want to thank Gary in NE1 for giving me a ride to the race. It was a pleasure to work with him. What a great car he has. I wish him all the success in the future.
This was a great race and I'm glad I was able to attend and meet some great people. Sorry we done have as much nostalgia racing back east.
I also wish the ANRA much success in the future as this was a real treat to come to a race and not be rushed around and also be treated like a person.
Thank you Brian

Congrats to the volunteers of ANRA that worked so hard to make this event the success that it was. The heat is part of the game, if you can't handle it don't participate. Here comes the but...could the qualifying start earlier, which translates to cooler. Could the ANRA staff give each other a few minutes break so as to keep the event going all the time instead of periods of dead time. Finally the break between qualifying and start of elims was too long. NE finals after 6PM is a long day and only a few die hards were there anyway.

AC. we could have pushed it a bit but I took it upon my self to make sure that we did not have the drivers suited up and in their cars to long so we gave them as much time as possible to keep them from getting to hot. Butch

plus....would have been a little hard to start before 9 when we still had racers coming in between 7-8am. Some of the down time had to do with either a) track prep or b) cool down time for the classes that needed it. (IE NE1, NE2....)
Could have been worse if we had oil downs every three or for pairs...LOL

Hey Anra. I for one was glad things didnt move any faster than they did. Safety issues are always a big concern and when you start jamming races because of car count or whatever People get hurt and things start going wrong. So you have my vote, take it easy, take it slow and always be safe first. Stan the Man A/Gas Ford
