New 1/8 mile track?

How many racers would attend a neat track and run 1/8 mile if we could get it? There is a chance that a new one will also be built and ready to run early 2007 not in Palmdale.
Just asking nothing firm at this time.

I would prefer 1/4 mile racing like everybody else, but if 1/8th mile is offered in the local area, I would attend. I would rather race than not.

I rather like LACR, but Id probably run as well.
!/4 mile is what I am used to, but the one time we ran 1/8 was not bad, just different.
Easier on parts & cooldown.

Well...IF I had my 'druthers', it would be the 1/4 mile..However (coma)..I look at it this way.

" If your hungry and want a meal, and someone offers you 1/2 a sandwich, are you going to say NO.. I want the whole thing or I aint gonna eat" I don't think so..

Then again, look at it his way..It's like having "Bad Breath"....it's better then no breath at all..

Folks; my point, as a crew person is that I feel that an 1/8 mile track, the few that i've been to and 1 that I havent, is that most of them are too short in the shut down area causing drivers that usually run 1320 to have to alter their finish line response and have to pull shutes early, to me this is difficult for drivers and alittle unsafe when your used to running "out the back door". If 1/8 mile tracks were built alittle longer down track I think they would be Easier and safer to run with "high powered race cars"
I know the tracks in the south and mid west thrive on 1/8 mile tracks, lots of them which I really can't figure out, they've got Lot's of space, most are in the country, forest area, out here we've got only what track owners can afford, less space, less insurance etc. If I were to run on all 1/8 mile all year as my season, no 1320, I'd set up a car very differently. I agree with you Bill....I think 1/8th miles are unsafe....Barona has had enough problems with 7 second cars...as the CIFCA guys. I think 1/8 mile is a waste of money and time.....

I'd run 1/8th mile! I love the 1/4, but 1/8 is more than 0/8.

If it were up to me, we would run some of the 1/8 mile tracks. There is definitly a problem with the shutdown at Barona for 4 second cars which was a very expensive learning curve. I'm not familiar with the shutdown areas at other 1/8 mile tracks. We would hate to go to an event, look at the shutdown and decide it's too short for our NE1 car. Now my NE3 dragster will be an entirely diffrent story. I know it will stop alot faster so I won't need to make that call. When it's done, I'll have no problem running an 1/8 mile track next year.
