Normally we're not the car show type. However, once in a while there are those that are worth while. One such is on Saturday, June 5th in Woodland Hills, CA. This event is put on by the San Fernando Valley Traffic Advisory Council in conjunction with the Los Angeles Police Department's Valley Traffic Division. The car show raise money to support programs like providing child safety seats for families that usually can't afford them and a teenage driving awareness program where officers and volunteers visit high schools in an effort to give a presentation to students on the dangers of wreckless driving. If you’re interested, please go to www.vtac-vtd.org/ for more information or to sign up. One of the requests given is that all participants are to be there between 6:30 and 8:30, as the plan to land a LAPD and a LAFD helicopter near by as one of the displays. Other displays include the SWAT team, the Jaws-of-Life, K9, and many more. Who knows, there may be a Nostalgia Nitro Funny Car there too. On a personal note, I was at the nearby campus of Pierce College a few years back on the night that two SWAT officers were shot during a standoff and one would later die from his wounds. That has had a profound effect on me since and I have always wanted to do what I could to show my support for our city's finest officers and firefighters. Thank You, Gino Ofria
