I have never annealed my copper (SCE) gaskets. I just clean them with Carb spray and scotch brite. Then spray on a good coat of coppercoat, Let it get tacky then install.. Have never had one fail yet using that method..

the material will get comparativly harder and harder the more times that you heat and cool the engine.
just heat with a black soot flame ( oxy-acet) torch and do not put in water...allow to get itself back to room temperature by itself.

I do the same thing Dick,as a matter of fact I just did that last week but I do have the block "O" ring and spray gasket with coppercoat. the O ring drops right inplace and tork to 75lbs and I have never had a problem with them.( been useing the same ones for the last 12 years)

Yup me too Dick.. if you take care of them (keep clean) they can out last the block. the coppercoat will take care of the water leaks and the "O" ring will take care of the cyl.. But I would not recomend useing that type of gasket on a street motor..

Street is a relative term. I have used them on a low 9 street truck with success. I never had to anneal them. Yamabond works well to seal water & oil. If there are small water leaks immediately on fire up, try ky block seal before you pull it apart. That almost always works. Ron
