NHRA does not specify, I built mine out of .050. All it is required to do is contain the oil in the event of a rod failure.

I made mine out of. 090 With 3" sides on it. covers from motor plate to in front of the balancer. I couldn't figure how to get it to cover to the back of the flywheel without doing away with the motor plate.

Yeah, somebody was smoking crack when they came up with that one. I can't figure out why it needs to be in front of the dampner either. A diaper doesn't run that far forward or back and if you break the crank snout or flange off, ain't nothing gonna stop the splatter any way.
