PUT A SPOOL IN IT AND FORGET ABOUT THE REAREND! THEN IT IS EASIER TO DIAL THE CHASSIS IN. CAR WILL GO STRAIGHT AS LONG AS THE TIRE CIRCUMFRANCE IS IDENTICAL! VERY CRITICAL. ALSO, MAKE SURE THE RIDE HEIGHT IS EQUAL EVEN IF THE CHASSIS IS PRELOADED. HOPE THIS HELPS, OZZIE.

I'm not sure what kind of HP your motor puts out, But buy some "PRO" gears while you get spool. Then forget the rearend is there..Watch your tires.....

Ivan:
Back in the day the Fuel Altered guys went to "limited slip" differentials to make them stop acting like Fuel Altereds and go straight. Just depends on how "comfortable" you are with a limited slip type rear end.
When I put the blown small block in our Fiat I went to a "spool" and removed the limited slip we had had in the car since we bought it. Didn't learn why the "old timers" had used the limited slip until after we changed. Most of the time the car runs straight, but every once in a while it acts like a Fuel Altered. Of course even the dragster @ 183" wheel base can swap lanes in a heart beat as witnessed in Fontana a couple of weekends ago if you don't get lined up correctly.
FYI, we run a 377 small block with a non stripped 671 @ 7% under and run 8.40's on methanol with 4:10 gears on 33 inch tires.

my 2 cents. My truck has always handled better on a spool. I also used to break lots of stock N case 9" fords. Switched to a mark williams aluminum 9" (big pinion 40 spline)15 YEARS AGO & have not broken 1 gear since. The alum case lets it flex a little rather than snap. Ron Gribble #7306 b/g

explain why? reading in the old ahra rules said they weren't recommended but permitted . the jewelT blown gas record holder in 68 was a one wheeler video is on youtube and garlits first 200 mph trip wasn't even a posi! If it helps the car go straight think i will stick with it
