In case you haven't heard, we lost yet another drag racing legend. On January 11, 2007, cigar chompin' pro stock driver "Dandy" Dick Landy passed away. Always bums me out whenever I hear that one of my heroes from the 70's passes. To me, there was never a greater time in drag racing than the late 60's - 70's. Thanks for the memories Mr. Landy. I hope you and Ronnie Sox are staging em up in that big drag strip in the sky. JR Mora.

I used to go to his shop in the late 70's when I was racing my '69 Dodge Dart with a 340 when I needed info or some work done . That man could drive!!!!! He left a huge impression on me and was one of my heroes too JR . I agree with you about the 60's and 70's being the best time for pure drag racing and he was an important part of it .

I met Dick Landy, when he came into my floor covering store in northridge to buy carpet and tile for his house. He was my idol growing up and I was pleasantly surprised, to say the least, when i met him in person. He had his cigar in his mouth as usual. He was such a nice guy, we talked about drag racing more than carpet. He invited me to his shop, which was very close to my store, and gave me a tour. I will never forget that he was so nice to me. I was interested in buying a '32 ford 3 window coupe with a blown 354 hemi. I asked him what he thought of the 354 hemi. He told me it would make a great anchor for a boat!!!! I bought the car anyway even though he did not think highly of the 354.
