I just noticed that the Famoso website has the 2007 NHRA Rule Book on line and a couple items have me confused.
Under Nostalgia Eliminator, it says that Nitro is prohibited. Is that correct? When did that happen? Will ANRA allow nitro in NE1 cars are their events?
Also, under Funny Cars, the body must be pre-1980, but in NE1, it says pre-73!
Can anyone shed any light on this before I get this d**n thing in the spray booth. If this is all true, I might just cut the body up and be done with it!

Bill: This is not etched in concrete, But I think ANRA will still be pre 80s. And I also just heard that any car in the NE2 & 3 classes must have a diaper for the M-M. I'm going to check this out more as that is rediculas 2 weeks before the event, Then say you have to run a Diaper.. F%#@& em. I'll stay home. How many times have you seen an NE class car oil down the track. If this is true, There won't be much of a M-M. Thats for sure...

Looks like we will be running the same rules package as last year with just a couple of small changes. I understand there will be some updates to the rules that NHRA has posted for Nostalgia racing some time the next week. I really feel that they are looking to give us a package we can live with and it will help make racing better. So everyone just hang in there and look forward to racing. Butch

Fuel (nitro) will be gradually phased out by NHRA until finally the only place you can see it will be at NHRA events only.
Only Pro-type cars will be allowed to run NITRO, the smaller classes will be switched back to ALKY only. Just a matter of time.
NHRA wants to have it so that whenever someone says the words "Drag Racing" they (NHRA) get paid for it.

Max....was there a 4th man on the grassy knowl? LOLOLOL...never mind I believe that the NHRA rules as they were posted are all encompassing, but changes will be made to what you read on the Famoso site. I'm reading through all 5000 pages of it tonight (lol) and giving Butch some input on what will affect our group of classes. What I have heard is that if your car was legal per 2006 rules (NHRA/VRA), you will be good to go come March. After that things may change, but we will be on top of this for you all. Feel free to email me any time and I will do my best to answer any and all questions to the best of my ability. FYI, Mr Sweeney.....if you run with us in 2007, our funny car bodies are 1980 and older. For whatever reason, when the VRA brought the NFC group out, they let them be '79 and older, but if you ran an "eliminator" class, they listed F/C bodies to '73 and older. I truely believe that was just an oversite of wording. The original NFC rules were leaning towards '73 and older, but then they opened the door to allow some of the more readily available F/C bodies out there in so that the class could get off the ground....at least this was how I understood things to have been. Keep the faith...things will be ok....
