Copied from an e-mail to all A/Gassers:
For the second year in a row, Tommy Schiffilea wins the So. Cal. Super Chevy Shootout at Fontana. Nine cars entered, eight qualified, and in the end it was Tommy taking the win over Irv Helms. This was Irv's first final in his short career. All that came out had nothing but good praise for how the show went. The racers got in for free, track was in great condition, and the promoter was happy. Rodger Guston was so happy that there is a good chance that Super Chevy may expand the amount of invatations for next year. Keep an eye out for this one to came around again. Once again, A.J. was our gracious host for dinner on Saturday night with the best Moose Spagetti I've ever had in my life. And while I didn't see anyone in a chicken suit, there were a couple of funny dressed characters walking around after dinner. Perhaps those were the guys I saw A.J. giving rides to down the 1/4 mile strip. For those who are planning to come down for the Heritage race, I just want to offer a good luck to you as dad and I may come out on Saturday to spectate. The track was in good condition and it should yeald some fast numbers. Gino Ofria
