Got this update from Gurzen Racing. Was sent to his NE 1 guys.
Hi All.
First off...This 2007 Supplement relating to "Nostalgia" type cars, was actually a "work in progress" and still is. Since the first 'printing' and release of the supplement, there have been a number of changes. Here is the latest information that I received this afternoon from NHRA.
1. NITRO use in NE is OK...There is no % listed however, later on this year, they may address it again. Unofficially, it may be limited to 35 - 40%...But again, this is a "work in progress" and it will be up for discussion at a later date.
2. Blower restraints. New rules stated that if your Blown and running alky, you will need a 14.2 restraint. This has been rescinded. An SFI Spec 14.1 will be ok to run with a 671 Roots type blower just as it has been in the past. Now, if you have an 871, they were thinking about the 14.2 bag restraint. I asked that they reconsider this and have the 871 ok with the 14.1 restraint... As of now the 14.1 is OK...They will re-address this after the March Meet.
3. Diapers. As of now, the SFI Spec 7.1 on any Blown car in NE does need the diaper, as it has been in the past. Any other requirement for Diapers on other NE cars (injected etc) has been deferred until Jan 2008.
NOTE: The 'diaper' thing will be coming up in Jan 08...I understand that several folks have already stepped up and purchased a 7.2 spec diaper...I'm not sure that it will be what the rule may call for...A good chance is a 7.1 for anything car in NE (7.60) and a 7.2 for anything else...DON"T BUY ANYTHING YET...There may be a lot more changes coming, so wait until things settle down and get finalized...
March Meet..14 days and counting.
Race Safe everyone...Regards..Joel
