Just got a message that Ronnie Marcum died in the pits at Fontana warming up the car. Car was up on a jack testing the transbrake when the car hopped off and launched under a trailer and caught fire...they coudln't get to him in time.....very sad.

I'm a just heartbroken....Like many people I bought my super comp car from Ronnie. He and his brother were so nice and helpful to me and my family. Now they both are gone. Every time I would see him at a D7 event, first words out of his mouth was asking how my family was. I know that he and Randy were very very close, now they are together again. My heart goes out to his daughters and the rest of his family and friends. Like he said at his brothers funeral, "You are not far, just 1/4 mile away"

I didn't personally know Ronnie or Randy, but my dad remembered them from OCIR. The Marcums were respected racers and have touched a lot of people....d**n shame to see this....

I heard from Jeff Seraphine that it was his trailer that was hit and burned up in the incident. He and his son had JUST pulled out of the pit heading to the lanes with their JR dragster....amazing! Everyone PLEASE be careful this coming weekend.
