I have a Ford FE question, just learning some things about the Ford motors. I have a FE 360 and a FE 390, all the internals on the 360 are good, forged pistons, fresh heads, but the block has a crack on the outside casting going into the water jacket and leaks. Going to try and get it welded up. The 390 pistons have broken ring lands, block looks good. I am trying to build on a tight budget My question is for the Ford Specialist, will the 360 crank, rods and pistons fit into the FE 390 block? I have not measured the bores yet between the 360 and the 390, so I am aware the 390 block will need to be bored to fit the 360 Forged pistons alongs with new rings, bearings and gaskets The heads should be a direct bolt on along with the intake etc... Any suggestions ideas would be great, building the motor for my tow truck 73 f250 Thanks Anra guys and gals Jeff

Thats correct. Also if you want an overview of the FE engine Pat Ganahl wrote a book some years back FORD PERFORMANCE, "Includes all modern ford performance engines" Its dated, but only parts availability has changed. copyright date 1979. Be sure to measure the pistons & bores if you are swapping. Ford used a wide range of piston sizes to accomodate production variation in blocks. Ron
