OK, HERE IT GOES. AFTER 43 YEARS OF RACING WITH NHRA I THINK I HAVE NOW SEEN IT ALL. A CAR WAS CAUGHT WITH "ILLEGAL" ELECTRONICS AND WAS TOLD TO REMOVE THEM. THIS IS AFTER 2 QUALIFING PASSES. SUDDENLY, WE GET A 3rd QUALIFING PASS THAT COUNTS! THE RULES STATE ACCORDING TO THE 2010 RULE BOOK PG.20.30 8:2 THAT " AFTER PRE TECH ANY DISCOVERY OF OF SUCH ITEMS ARE GROUNDS FOR IMMEDIATE DISQUALIFICATION FROM EVENT, LOSS OF ALL POINTS FOR THE SEASON, AND SUSPENSION FROM ALL EVENTS THE REMAINDER OF THE SEASON"! HE IS ALLOWED TO RACE!? ???WHAT IS THIS TEACHING OUR CHILDREN? CHEATING IS OK BECAUSE YOU HAVE ENOUGH $$$$ TO RULE THE ROOST? IT IS VERY SAD THAT A FELLOW ANRA RACER LOST THE CHAMPIONSHIP BY 7 POINTS LAST YEAR TO A CHEATER! ALSO, ANOTHER FELLOW ANRA RACER LOST THE MM FINAL TO A CHEATER!!!! I APPOLIGIZE FOR VENTING BUT, THIS ANRA GROUP IS A FAMILY AND I"M NOT AFFRAID TO SPEAK MY MIND! I DON"T MAKE THE RULES, I JUST FOLLOW THEM. JUST LIKE THE REST OF YOU GUYS & GALS. I THINK I"M DONE WITH THE NHRA JOKE. P.S. THIS BEING ALLOWED "WILL" FLOW OVER" INTO OTHER CLASSES. P.S.S. I"VE NEVER EVEN RACED THIS KNUCKELHEAD BEFOR. SO IT"S NOT SOUR GRAPES. SEE YA ALL IN JUNE. Thats one big issue with that series! Every track and crew seems to have their own interpretation of rules, etc... No consistency.

What even made it more disgusting was the comment, "I've been running it this way for the last three years" and they still refused to do anything. Typical NHRA mentality. It bares to remember what NHRA stands for, surely Not The Racer but .... No Hope for Racing in America!! I've spoke my peace....ED

I was told this, "It's just an index class so it really doesn't matter."
I pointed it out to the NHRA guy who was in charge from day one and explained that unless they get a hold of the rules right off the bat it would only get worse. We (our team) were 100% backing the Heritage Series from the beginning, but quickly saw how it was going to go. That same NHRA guy later confide to me that he wished he never started it and that the Goodguys never left.
I've asked this question many times before. What has NHRA done to advance the nostalgia movement?
In regards to the Fontana folks, the word I'm hearing from a few reliable sources is that they are not happy with PSCA or SCEDA. Perhaps we need to butter-up to them so that they will look to replace those other guys with ANRA next year with a couple of dates.

No big surprise to any of this for me. When I helped Butch get the ANRA back off the ground, I had to kind of be the enforcer of the "nostalgia" rules and make sure there was no nitrous, stutter boxes, etc out there. It's a thankless job and it takes some one who gives a crap about the racing, not someone who is affraid to enforce what is right. NHRA makes money off of the companies that sale those componants that are deemed "illegal"....what do you think is more important to them?

These types of things happen in nostalgia racing as well. In the 7.0 Pro class there is a certain funny car that was the points champ and won the March Meet that has a traction control system and retard for dial in timing system. It was brought to Jeff Nortons attention at the Hot Rod Reunion and his reply was "I dont have time for that". Guess its only cheating if you get caught!

The same Jeff Norton than ran the now defunct VRA?? (at least on the west coast) Look where that attitude got them..... defunct!

The only reason I have not run ANRA last year and this year is financial... can't afford to tow to Famoso a bunch of times...

Instead of "bringing it to someones attention" why not file a Formal protest as outlined in the NHRA rule book (the big one). Section 1.6.5?

Sure, where is the forms to fill out. In all that I have brought up, I have stated to the officials that I am making a "Formal Protest." The feeling that I get from them is, once they collect the money they ain't giving none of it back. Not yours and not the other guys. My quote on the top of the third post actually came from Jeff Norton too. I had a lot of respect for him and the VRA team, but lost a lot of it after that. He works for a new team now. One that I have little respect for. What ever happen to virtues like honesty and integrety in this world.

Ozzie couldnt have said it any better. The rules are the rules and they should be followed on both ends(the Racer and the Rules enforcers). We all know who really won the March Meet...Gotta go to Sizzlers

Don't think of them as rules, but rather suggestions.
