Good morning! As the economy continues to negatively affect our lives, so too it affects motorsports and its events. Now, add the spiraling cost of travel to that equation and tough choices face every enthusiast and/or participant. And – if you happen to be a track owner/operator – those choices are made more difficult by the seemingly awesome cost and increased risk of producing an event that generates a profit.
Therefore, I am – for the first time in 50 years – resigning from all this year’s events, save two.
1. May 21, Saturday - 2nd Annual Detroit Dragway Reunion, Milan Dragway, Milan, MI 2. October 21-23 – 20th Annual California Hot Rod Reunion, Famoso Raceway, Bakersfield, CA
My appraisal business, Southwest Valuations, is growing and blesses me with the coolest car guy job – ever. And that’s what I’m gonna do. My enthusiasm for hot rodding, drag racing and all motorsports has not lessened a bit. I remain a sold-out, rock ‘n roll car guy and will continue adding to the discourse here. But tough times require tough choices and this is mine. Thanks for understanding.
