I witnessed something in the staging lanes during the Summit race on Sunday that I have questions about. In the Sportsman class I saw a 12 second truck line up next to a 18.5 second 4 door sedan. When the truck realized he was going to have to run the car, he pulled out and went to the back of the #8 lane so he would not have to give a 6.5 second head start. Is this legal?

I can't find the particular written rule that supports it but in my opinion this is strictly prohibited during eliminations.....obviously before you reach the ladder rounds.

That's one of the reasons ANRA ladders from 1st round." No duck hunting"

One of the many reasons we support Butch and his program. No games allowed! That truck should have been made to come back to the place he was and run the car he was paired up with. Who ever was running the staging lanes was not doing their job.

Turns out the guy actually forgot his helmet. Not that "duck hunting" doesn't go on, but not this time.

I'm not sure I understand this. If you don't show up and race the opponent you are scheduled with during eliminations, is it not an automatic loss?

As Butch said <1st round pairing> in eliminations and that issue will never come up.
If he did forget his helmet, and we all may at some point, he still runs the car he was paired with.
Makes more work for the guys at the back of staging, but the ANRA & Track crew do a great job and it works well.

Oldest one in the book "forgot helmet" summit gets many MANY DUCK hunters and panseys! Ladder 1st round rules !!!!!! I've seen so many times people pull out of lanes for one bad excuse or another , just race if you pull out of the lanes you should be dqed!!!!!
