Read about this on DRO. But rather than take it as gossip, I went right to the source. Some new tracks are being built and others could be looking to jump over.

Hey Gino Saw your comments in response to the doofus who said Famoso was a dump on DRO "letters". Good job!
I also wrote, but apparently your comments to Mr Sheehan were quite a bit more PC than mine and yours were better suited for publication!

Thanks Mike, it took me til the 5th draft before it was PC enough. Got to be careful about what I say, big brother is watching. BTW, the latest (about a month ago) the folks in Santa Maria are waiting to get a final blessing from the FAA to use the airport property for a temporary 1/8th mile track. If they don't get it then they will focus their attention on the 1/4 mile track on the other site with hopes to open up sometime in the future. Currently, Porsche America contracted with the Santa Maria Airport to use the South Runway to demonstrate their 2012 models to their dealers and the media in exchange for repaving that area and other types of compensation. That area will be used for the pit area if the SMA receives approval from the FAA. Their are other tracks in the works, but I can't say anything about them. However, rumor I have heard is that a track in Northern California is not happy with NHRA and is considering jumping ship.
