I've been involved with junior dragsters since my grandson was 8, and he is turning 17 on the 20th. We're spoiled and used a 26 foot toy hauler for several years to haul the quad and junior to the track. Now that he is a licensed driver, and close to aging out of juniors, I bought a '32 Bantam altered for him to race. I wanted to enjoy the same comforts at the track that I've come accustom to, and so I bought a 32 foot toy hauler that had a load rating that would more than accommodate the altered. Although I took it in to consideration, I didn't do my homework to completion. Although the altered would fit nicely in the trailer, it was a REAL problem to get it in because it has a ground clearance of about 4 inches. Having just spent $40,000 for this trailer, I wasn't about to sell it to get something that was more appropriate for my situation. I tried ALL the solutions recommended here and on other sites, but nothing worked. My research lead me to a company called Brute Industries that make "Race Ramps" for trailers with cars that have low ground clearance. I had to have custom ramps made to get the altered into the trailer and they made them after weeks of numerous mathematical calculations to ensure they would work. I got them yesterday and they work like a charm. They're not cheap, but they were pretty much my only solution. I post this here so that others may benefit from my experience. The trailer floor to the ground on my trailer was 30" and by driving my rear truck tires up on some "Rhino ramps" the number dropped to about 20 1/2". This made making the custom ramps possible. The trailer door drops down onto the ramps that are 16" high and a little over 10 feet long. They come in two pieces per ramp and are made of a VERY dense Styrofoam used to build highways, so they are pretty light weight and VERY strong. Like I said, this information may help you or some of your racing buddies.
