What is the correct (ie. NHRA) way to install a window net with a swing out bar? About to spray the car but thought I should at least provide mounting for the window net if we ever get to that e.t.. I read that the fixed point must be the cage on the bottom (door bar?) and the removable portion to be at the halo bar. Since the door bar slants downward, should a bar be welded to the door bar that carries the bottom of the net, at a level below the bottom of the window in the door. Also does the entire window need to be covered including the a-pillar or just the actual window? Any help appreciated.

Yes that is correct; secured at the bottom and released from the top. 3/8 rod through a couple of tabs welded to the chassis bar on the bottom and another 3/8 bar with the female side of a seat belt latch welded to it on top. We welded the male side to the halo bar. The backside of the top rod can either slide it through a tab or weld another tab to it and secure it with a bolt into the halo bar.
Regarding the net itself, the purpose is to prevent your arm from going outside of the car if the door comes off. I suggest that while sitting in the car try and get your arm pass the chassis and the area needs to be covered with a net. Most safety companies like DJ Safety will make a custom window net to your dimensions.

Thanks, ordered a net and kit, will probably have to fab something up....that's the fun part of this sport. We could get by without a cage initially but will need one for 9.99 down the road. If I have a cage now does it need to be certified even though we are not going to run that e.t.?
