What is up with the collector tether issue? My headers have had the two,two bolt tabs for 20+ years, they have never even come loose!!! $150 for four clamps and two tethers,WTF? Is Famoso going to enforce this latest scam? ROY.

With all due respect, it's a SAFETY ISSUE. Many racers have run over items on the track during a run. Easy fix, Tune your collectors and weld them on, or spend the $ to keep the racer behind you safe. JMO. Ozzie.

Ozzie;in all due respect,I use lock nuts and lock washers, for over 20 years nothing has ever fallen off of my car!! It takes a 21/2 pound hammer and a block of wood to get my collectors off after you remove the bolts,I can not weld the collectors on as each tube must be installed around and through the chassis!! It just seems like more NHRA BS!!NHRA=No Hot Rods Allowed!!! ROY.

Roy, I understand your frustration. Some rules just don't make sense. But, we all have to make sure everyone is safe. Especially when our children are involved. JMO. Ozzie.

Hope you didn't really spend $150.00 for them. There are others out there in the $60.00 range.

I had to order two sets of tethers. The diameter on my collector is a different size from the muffler. We need to run a muffler at Irwindale and I hope to give my grandson lots of seat time there. After this year, Irwindale may close and those tethers will be for not. BTW, the tech at Irwindale showed me the rule and only certain brands are authorized.

Well it looks like a lot of people got screwed by NHRA again. By the latest update it looks like a simple exhaust hanger will do it. collector tethers..... As per NHRA in the latest rules update. $200 wasted! SECTION 20: GENERAL REGULATIONS, ENGINE: 1, 1:3 EXHAUST (Page 3) (2/18/2014) All cars vehicles must be equipped with exhaust collectors, headers, or stacks installed to direct exhaust out of car vehicle body to rear of car, away from driver and fuel tank. No part of the exhaust system may be routed through the driver’s compartment. Exhaust collectors/stacks system components must be securely fastened (i.e., metal connector straps, bolted, welded, etc.) to prevent loss of collector/stacks system components during competition. Effective Jan. 1, 2014, All removable multi-piece exhaust collectors/stacks must be securely fastened with either an NHRA-accepted header tether, or a minimum ½” (half-inch) stitch weld located on each primary tube or be permanently attached to the vehicle body or frame with positive fasteners (i.e. exhaust hangers, support brackets, bolts/nuts, etc.) such that they require tools for removal to prevent loss of collector/stacks during competition. A current list of NHRA-accepted header tethers is available on NHRARacer.com.
