We're still looking for altereds to run the 7.50 index class at the Fuel Altered Nationals. Currently we have 7 cars confirmed for an 8 car field. This is an open qualified show with no limit on nitro, so if some of those injected cars want to come play...now your chance!

Rules:
Ÿ 8 car field/ 2 rds of qualifying / 3 rds of eliminations/ 7.50 index
Ÿ .400 Pro tree / Courtesy stage recommended/ Deep staging OK
Ÿ Alcohol, Nitro or Gasoline NO NITROUS
Ÿ VRA Rules for ELECTRONICS! Electronic throttle stops, shift timers, delay boxes, etc. are not allowed and must be removed before tech. Maximum rev limiters, shift lights, trans brakes and data recorders are OK
Ÿ NHRA 2006 rules apply (Screw blower OK /must meet TAD/TAFC rules)
Ÿ Qualifying based on closest to index. Quicker than index will be equal to a 7.80 plus the difference between the ET and 7.50 (7.48 qualifies as 7.82)
Ÿ NHRA standard race ladder (1 vs. 8, 2 vs. 7, etc). Quicker qualified car has lane choice.
Ÿ MUST stage under own power to get round money
Ÿ If a car wins, but breaks and cannot make the call, the quickest loser from the previous round will replace the broken car. This alternate will split the round money with the broken car.

Remember, we are here to put on a SHOW! Please keep this in mind. Big, smokey burnouts are encouraged. Side by side burnouts are a must. Do not pull into the water box until BOTH cars are ready (unless there is a definite problem with the other car).

Teams are encouraged to wear “Team colors”, matching shirts, colors, designs, etc. We want your team to look professional.

Tucson Fuel Altered Nationals - BB/FA class report

Saturday Night was great! The stands were packed, 3-4 deep at the fence and the pits were a buzz. From the parade up the return road to the big smoky burnouts, the fans went nuts for each pass. You would be hard pressed to find another race with that kind of fan appreciation. We had a full field of 8 cars. Kooter, Ivey, Phelps, Hall, D’Oca, Cogswell, Ward and Levitt. All eight cars were impressive beautiful paint, side by side burnouts and good close racing.

With only 8 cars, it was decided that the first round of qualifying was optional, track was greasy and it was hot. Three cars showed up to take a shot with Phelps being the only one to get down. Second round of qualifying started out the show with the fuel cars. The BB altereds were first down the track and did an excellent job of leading into the nitro burners…wait…is that nitro I smell? The Dinosaur Fiat has pop in the tank!

After qualifying we’ve got Krazy Kooter sitting on top, with Van Ivey closing out field. First round of eliminations had some very close racing. Of the eight cars, six of them ran in the 7’s, and what’s with the little yellow fiat, I’ve never seen that thing go so straight…much less run a 7.55!

The final round found two Fiats, Tony D’Oca in Jim Boettchers altered with a 540 cuin blown chevy, pairing up against….The Dinosaur? A blown 350 on the juice. When the lights came down, we found Tony with a case of premature throttle response and went red with a .007. Tony runs a 7.59 to Wards 7.65. A big congratulation goes out to the Dietz and Ward team. After a small wheelie bar adjustment, that car was on a string. They definitely brought their “A” game and had the car to beat.

The track was very happy with our show and has already invited us back next year. Thanks to everyone who participated. Father’s Day weekend put it on your calendar!
