Anyone know specifically what the rules are in Sportsman class as far as two wheel line-lock, trans-brake, delay box, two-step/stutter-box, launch control e.g. mechanical button, electronic button, switch on brake pedal and optical sensors.

Sportsman class is for pre 1986 cars 12.00 ET and slower. All safety requirements are per NHRA rules. No timed vehicle controlled devices allowed like delay boxes, electronic throttle stops etc. Trans brake and line loc is permitted. Pretty much your standard Sportsman non-electronics rules apply. Check the NHRA Heritage series rules at this link www.nhra.com/userfiles/file/Tech/2015_HRHS_Rulebook_Final.pdf

It would be great to have the rules in print from Butch.
last week it seemed like there were no rules,
the two cars in the final round were both on a 2-step and looked like line locks, not trans-brakes when they bumped into the second bulb.
i heard second hand that someone might even be running a delay box with lights ..030, .022, .001, .002, .001
so what do we do?
Butch please print the rules.

Maybe past year Sportsman Championship winners can tell us what their understanding of what the rules are. it's not a trick question

After every race there is someone that comes up with "I heard or some one said" Give me a name or car number our Sportsman class is a off shoot of Hot Rod just trying to give the racers a better spread and a class for the slower cars. I have thought about combining the class's only problem I don't like 9.0 running 19.99 cars. I do want to know but the time to address the problem is at the race not on the computer. My phone cell #(661) 667 0030 or email racerj9684@aol.com

The guy should be kicked out for life. Also, everybody knows that swoopy door cars ALL have hidden electronics. When are you going to wise up and get rid of these cheaters?

I dont see the Sportsman rules in Heritage...unless i missed it again.
To me ANRA is a great series cause we all love nostalgic racing and cars. So Sportsman being the entry level racing where you will find the street/strip low dollar cars and grassroots people that just want to race foot-braking.
i think we want to avoid cars from other classes dropping down to sportsman and cleaning up cause they brought a gun to a knife fight.
When you think of all the people that can not be competitive against a 2-step or trans brake that race Sportsman and may decide to stay home.
so it comes down to the class is either "bottom-bulb"=electronics permitted, NO delay-box "Foot-brake"= NO electronics or something else.
BTW- BOB at NHRA said, NHRA does not make the rules for individual tracks or series, that is the tracks discretion.
they do provide the rules for the finals in Pomona.

It's like I said before Sportsman class is an off shoot of Hot Rod same rules just slower cars. I guess it's like you say Sportsman racers may decide to stay home. I would hope not but thats there choice.
I know a number of Hot Rod class racers that win a lot of rounds that have no trans brake or 2 steps. I try to let a lot of racers that don't get to run other nostalgia series run with us.
