If you haven't already heard, or checked out the RMP site, the Merced County Board of Supervisors has DELETED the 6 pm meeting!
This is not a bad thing, although it may diminsh the supporters ranks somewhat, unless you're willing to take NOV 14th off work (one day to help cement years of racing history, not a bad trade off). The public hearing will begin at 10:00 am SHARP, but will continue until ALL voices have had their 5 mins. to opinionate. If their (the Supers) strategy is to run non-stop (NO lunch break) as the Planning Commission did, then it will fall smack dab into our favor. As was pointed out by RMP's out of town consultants after the planning commission's unanimous vote, by working thru the lunch break it trumps the opposition from stratigizing during the lunch break to shore up areas where they lacked. Of course this is not the case on RMP's side, as we have over 10,000 pages of skilled documentation to stand behind.
So if you plan on coming into Merced (and it would be EXTREMELY appreciated) MAKE SURE you 're at the Gov't center NO LATER THAN 9:00 am. While there will be two overflow rooms, and you'll view the proceedings over a TV, the Board will not be able to stare at as many RMP supporters as we would like. We will be handing out hats and possibly t-shirts that morning (part of our visibility statement). Also we would like to crowd out any and all opposition from the main room (it seats approx 200-225 people only, and they DON'T allow standing).
Again please note the 10:00 am meeting ONLY and it could go as late as 5:00pm. If you want to make a statement, prepare it ahead of time. Hit up how much you and yours will be dropping in Merced County (gas, food, lodging, etc.) and how often. Throw in some side remarks concerning following track recommended traffic plans and being good neighbors, and finish off with how much other tracks support their communities, and that ought to do it. If you're not comfortable speaking, then just be a interested body, that's cool too.
The final, all said and done vote (NO public comment allowed) will take place DEC 12th.
We're Close. VERY Close.
THIS IS ESSENTIALLY RMP'S LAST CHANCE TO PROVE OUR MUSTER!
Let's gather up our camps and show the opposition what real racers are all about (except for those that stay too late at the MM campstoves).
Thanks, hope to see as many of you as possible NOV 14th.
