I was listening to Speedsceneracing and was surprised to hear that Good-Guys had approached Famoso Raceway in an attempt to have 3 Nostalgia events there but the Bowsers felt that 3 events would be too much and would dilute the existing spectator attendance affecting the profitability of the 2 events already in place . It sounds like more Nostalgia events isn't what they are looking for at Famoso - Bummer !

It sounds like the Bowsers have made a business decision. The revenue generated from the March meet and Finals races can now be used for more track improvements. Their priority is their track, which is understandable, but kind of pulls the rug out from under a lot of racers. He said he HOPES some of other tracks will pick up the slack and possibly save the series. Obviously this move was in the works for some time and apparently nothing was done with regard to saving the series. Too bad for the racers!

I think the fact that there will not be a Championship series there anymore will impact attendance more than having an extra event would . I think many racers will not attend because of the lack of having a championship series and will focus their race plans elswhere . I think the fans like to see a points race also . Now it's not tied in with anything....just a one race show , ya...it's got great history and has always been one of my favorite races to compete in . Special event races are great but there is nothing like the thrill of trying to win that championship .

It seems that Famoso was just about the only track willing to deal with GG's. Intuition and talk is that they burned bridges with other tracks especially Bruton Smith's tracks (Vegas and Sonoma) and as far as Pomona they really screwed up this year by not having Nitro Under The Lights. How in the heck do you NOT do that at the Mecca of drag racing. This talk of curfew at Pomona was BS, they just didnt want to rent the lights and furthermore not using LED's on the tree was petty also.
Oh well, time to move on!

There is no way racers will skip the March Meet because of a lack of points fund! There aren't enough races as it is so why skip the best Nostalgia race on the West Coast? If you do your the only one who suffers. As far as the fans go all you need is Nitro and Beer and they will show.
