as usual the season opener was as good as it gets. I have one comment. what`s up with the modern super gas cars competing in ne 3 to my way of thinking they should run in c gas. must be big fish in a small pond syndrome. did enjoy the quasi camaro getting schooled by both the dragster ( opponent) and the starter when he tried to burn the other lane down. to my way of thinking, if he tries that what else will he try.

NE3 should be center steer and no doors but We’ve all seen A variety of cars running that class. I guess if door cars and left hand steer cars are running NE3 then open wheel should be able to run D and E gas. Letting a door car run NE3 if fine but if an NE car tried to run a door class you would see people loosing their minds

I have NEVER seen a DOOR CAR in NE/1.2or3! Door cars are WORKING DOORS. Street roadsters are LEFT hand steering. What is the problem? All you have to do is cut a light and run the number. PERIOD! Who cares who is or what is in the lane next to you. JMO. BUT, I thank you for getting the site going again! This is HEALTHY! Ozzie.

I personally don’t have an issue I ran numerous times against a door car in NE3 great guy nice car I consider him a friend but I think Nhra messed up by letting supergas roadsters run NE2 and NE3 if it’s all about cutting a light and running the number like you said then run NE1 and A gas together

no need to get in a pissing contest but if you read the rules nhra double taps everything. the real truth is butch can do anything he wants. I just find it to easy to bend the rules in the later model cars. Fyi I ran a number of years in a 7.0 pro altered now I run a dragster with the only thing that could be called electronic is a transbrake and rev limiter. that's nostalgia. its all a matter of money.

ddttmm2, Good For You. I Only Run A Transbrake! NO REV LIMITER! OH, By the way, after 50+ yrs of doing this I think I have a good idea of what the rule book says. Ozzie.

The NHRA rule book was changed in 2009 at Fontana. Prior to that the rule book said center steer dragsters and altereds in NE 1 2 3 only. (Check an old rule book). In NE3 we were asked by Eric Lotz if we wanted Super gas cars in our class, we all said no but this one time is fine. The next race we had 2 super gas cars and we all raised our concerns as the super gas cars have allot of electronics. Their response was we did not have enough cars to have a class. At ANRA we had 15 plus nostalgia cars, but not to many running NHRA Heritage series. So from then to now we get everything that does not have a class. I hear all the down track appliances those guys run at every race. In fact one of them admits to having them. Allot of great cars quit as a result of this and I miss those people but they got tired of loosing to giant tire electronic cars. Sooo cut a good lite and set your car up the best you can and you will have a small chance a winning against these over powered electronic invaders. Hi Ed

everyone has their opinion and that is their right. all I`m saying is 9.63 at 150+ mph doesn't compute. that mph generates low 9 or hi 8. my last lap was 9.26 at 144 so its obvious to me that there is something not kosher going on. you all know the rule, cheat as much as you can then whine when you get caught. see you all next month

ddttmm2, your calculations seem plausible. However, without taking several factors into account like gear ratio, cam timing ans others, you really can't say for certain. I've seen Ed Desaults (sp) run in Super Gas and he not using any throttle stops. Former National Champion I believe.
BTW, the heritage series rules state that Roadster are legal in NE2 & 3, but not NE1.

yes I have read the rules and I know it really doesn`t matter where anra is concerned. just making a statement that the new super gas cars use modern technology against the spirit of nostalgia style racing. I`m not so much bad mouthing the vette as what the camaro tried. the vette is impressive and the driver knows what he`s doing. I`ve never seen him try to run a game on anyone. see ya`ll in june
