Whats the reason that rear engine dragster's aren't included in the Nostalgia classes ? - we are in the neighborhood of these cars being as much as 50 years old. It seems there would be a fair amount of participants in these classes. The early econo cars in my opinion would be a good fit. What am I missing ?. Thanks for your opinions.

In the past, the cut-off for the nostalgia scene was pre-1972; before the popularity of RED. Although in the door cars are now cut off at '82.
Nevertheless, like injected nitro funny cars in the NHRA Sportsman Series, there never seems to be enough interest to warrant a change.

I appreciate the response- it’s unfortunate this doesn’t seem to interest the drag racing community. We would like to find a place for our older single 4bbl big block powerglide car. Thanks again for the response

I would put a race weight 1927 Ford T roadster body to emulate the Rear Engine Modified Roadster cars at Bonneville and the Lakes.
With a shorter than typical Super Comp car you could have the look of an early dragster, Speed Sport Roadster style comes to mind.

I sure would like to be able to run our old rear engine car without have to build a new FED - I am surprised with the number of 40 plus year old back motored cars that exist there is no interest. I have tried to talk to NHRA to no avail. I look at everything from a common sense point of view. Sure seems that running the old cars in the nostalgia classes makes a lot of sense. I really expected ANRA would see it the same way. I guess I will leave the car parked. Can't afford to build a NEW old FED ...

I am currently building a rear engine dragster specifically to run ANRA events and Summit Series too.
The 1927 Ford roadster body makes it acceptable. 130" to 150" is plenty of wheelbase if the chassis is right.
ANRA is not as obsessive as other organisations.

I don't know if this makes a difference, but I was under the impression that ANRA rules followed the NHRA Heritage Series rules. I think the current cutoff is now pre-1986 vehicles, not pre-1982. The year cutoff appears to be moving forward, so time may be in your favor. Does this change car configuration legality to allow a RED?

I am kind of re-thinking my earlier post about allowing RED in the Nostalgia classes. This could be a slippery slope ending in the class being populated with current Super Comp dragsters. Really bad idea, and not the intent of the Heritage/ANRA series. I have heard a few complaints about allowing Super Gas-type roadsters in NE3 and NE2.
