Looks like I lost my job as driver and became a crew chief over the weekend. I took my wife Kim out to LACR and strapped her in to the Ranchero to get some passes in on Saturday- her first ever down a drag strip . She did an awesome job ! Staged like a pro and kept the car right down the middle of the groove ( which I told her was very important at LACR) The ear to ear smile she had after her first pass said it all - all she said was " can I go again???"- I'm doomed as a driver of that car! Her third pass the car made a nasty move at the centerline in 2nd gear - she pedaled it , stuck it back in the groove and whacked the throttle again and drove it out the back door she looked like John Force out there . She thought that was even more fun!!!!! We had a blast , made three passes in the morning , watched two really really nice cars go into the wall totally destroying a gorgeous SS Chevelle and we decided it might be time to go home with the long clean up and the wind starting to pick up plus we had things to do in the afternoon . Everyone there was really supportive and she can't wait to get back in the car . I think I have created a monster .

I told my husband, Dan, about Eric losing his job as a driver and becoming a crew chief. Dan said that's what happened to him too back in 1994!!!!
Only thing, Kim asked if she could go again, while I just kept bypassing our pit that Friday night and putting the car right back in the staging lanes. I figured Dan would find me after awhile, and hopefully a couple of runs later, before he'd make me get out! ;D
Kim, I told you you'd love it if you tried it!
And Eric, look at it this way. From now on whenever you want to spend $$ on the ranchero, Kim won't be asking you how much is this going to cost & having a fit about it. She'll be saying, "Dear, get it if my race car needs it. And fix it fast because I want to go racing!"
