Well Howdy,
First of all I guess I should introduce myself once again because I haven't posted anything on this board forawhile.
Folks call me Moldy Marvin, I figure that might ring a bell to most of you, so, I'll leave it at that for now.
It has been almost a year now since I put www.savelacr.org up on the inter web.
The web site is pretty complete now and has been recently up dated with a bunch of new information and early photos of the track.
It seems like there were several of you guys that were interested in jumping on the band wagon last year to see if there was anything that we could do to either save L.A.C.R. or build a new facility right there where she currently sits.
Well since then I have been trying to get something accomplished and it seems that I am getting closer to some real answers. A couple of weeks ago I was able to get a 17 page copy of the original reclamation bond from the California Department of Conservation (Office of Mine Reclamation) which gives a description and outline of a 50 year plan, after going through the plan I came up with some ideas and then contacted the main office of Granite construction.
Granite is very interested in some of my concepts for reclaiming the property and this Wednesday I have an appointment with their local representative to go over a proposal that I have been working on.
Nothing is going to happen over night, however, Granite should be finished mining the property within a year to a year in a half which means that work could be started on the property that has already been mined within the next few months if we can come up with the means to do so. (and the means are there)
So what am I getting at?
NOW IS THE TIME to find out who of you are really interested in seeing something come to fruition! Who of you are willing to really get involved and who of you really want to do something about it!
Let me put it this way, they say if you want things done right, then do them yourself, however I can not do all of this on my own and obviously we can not depend on the current track management, so what is needed is a team.
I believe that there are enough of you folks out there who have the same drive as I do and if we put our heads together then we may have a real good shot of getting something accomplished for ourselves and the future of our sport right here in our own back yard.
For more information please visit www.savelacr.org
or you can e-mail me at moldy@ratfink.org
or we can expand this thread...
So there you have it, thank you for your time, hope to hear form you folks soon...
