On Friday June 1st 2007 there will be a “Save LACR Rally” in front Los Angeles County Raceway; the “Save LACR Rally” is for anyone who is as passionate about the closing of another Drag Strip in L. A.
County and putting “More Street Racers” (our kids) back on the streets as we are!

“Closing of Los Angeles County Raceway” and the effect it will have on the community at large, but most of all our “Young Adults”!

I’m sure that like all of us you are concerned with the “Street Racing” problem that exists today in our society, this is brought home every time we pick up a newspaper or tune in to the local news, and are informed of another accident as a direct result of “Street Racing” …and another loss of “Life and Property”.

LACR has been serving the communities in Los Angeles County for over 40 years; it has been a “Landmark” that has not only generated revenue for the County of Los Angeles but the Cities of Palmdale and Lancaster in particular. Most of all it has given our “Young Adults” and “Race Fans” a “Safe” and “Legal” place to race
rather than the city streets. Due to the “Mining of Aggregate” (by Granite Construction) next door to LACR, the Drag Strip is doomed unless you help!

There needs to be at the “Vary Least a Moratorium” on the digging to allow “Local Governments” (City and County) to come up with an alternative.

Wow I tried loggin' on a little while ago and the board was down.. glad to see it back up again..

Here is the scoop yes they should be racing so might as well bring something out.

In fact it is going to be a big weekend with Friday nites Save LACR Rally, then on Saturday the 2nd I'm having a Pre Antique Nats BBQ over at the Outpost in Pearblossom we will have bands and the whole bit,everyone is invited, it is free bring your Kustoms, Klassics and Hot Rods you are all welcome to join us! and Sunday the 3rd obviously The Antique nationals at L.A.C.R.
Then I'll be having my 5th annual BBQ after the nats over at my place.

In fact if folks want to bring their motorhoms and park them at my place if they want to hang out for the weekend they are more than welcome to do so.... I'm only a couple of miles from the track!

Getting back to the Rally for friday nite June 1st.

A Great Letter Sent by Diane Branham, she is a shining example of the passion that we all hold close to our hearts. Thank You Diane.


Dear Governor Schwarzenegger,

I'm sure you've already received countless letters regarding the ''Save LACR'' campaign. I started to copy & paste the same letter that everyone else is sending but then quickly reconsidered. I think maybe personal experience on my behalf will make more of an impact.

To put it simply, we are a drag racing family. My husband has been drag racing for more years than he cares to admit and myself, a 45-year-old grandmother, I joined the drag racing circuit a little over a year ago with my own car & trailer.

The most important thing, however, is our 22 year-old-son. Like his father, he's been into fast cars all his life. From the time he began showing an interest in cars, we explained the dangers & foolishness of illegal drag racing but in the end, peer pressure won out. We got lucky. This story doesn't end in tragedy like it could have. We all know he could have been arrested, killed or even killed an innocent bystander. And it was prevented simply like this: we took him to Los Angeles County Raceway with us.

From the minute we arrived, he was hooked. Now we go to the track as a family. And all his friends that used to street race illegally? They come, too. It's close, it's affordable (kids can't even go to the movies these days for less than it costs to race all night!), it's safe and it's fun. It's that simple. It's a kick to see all the kids there on Wednesday and Friday nights for Test 'n Tune.

They have an absolute ball and I have to wonder ''Where will all these kids go if this track closes?''. Ourselves, we'll just have to make the trip to Bakersfield to race and that's only because we're fortunate enough at this stage in our lives to be able to afford to do so.

But the kids…well, I can only give a pretty good guess what they'll do since Palmdale is a big place with no shortage of ¼ mile stretches in any direction. A ''Save LACR'' rally has been planned for June 1st at the track with all the supporters we can get together and media. I realize it would be too much to ask for you to attend this rally yourself but if a representative could stop by, they would see all the families and kids who would be affected by the closure of this family-owned track. I can't even begin to imagine how busy you are, Governor Schwarzenegger, but if you could please, please give this matter some consideration, you will never know how truly grateful we would be.

I appreciate the time you've taken to read this letter and any consideration you can give this matter. Thank you so much.

Tonight's rally is gonna be pretty darned big, channel 7 news is gonna be there along with a bunch of folks and the local press, the city is in talks with Granite and a lot of new news is out on the streets...

There is a whole weekend of stuff happining out at the track and up the road... folks can camp out at my place or at the Outpost.
