I was just wondering where all the real speed shops have gone to and then I came across a "Service Center" in El Monte. It seems that the All Pro Auto Parts chain as a string of various speed shops under various names around the country....anyone been in the El Monte shop.... ?

Man I remember growing up in the San Fernando Valley - They were everywhere - Service center - Van Nuys Racing - Autocessories - L&M Speed and Marine - Autocare - PAW and many more . You could walk into any of these and touch , feel ,smell the Hipo goodies you were looking for . You could find just about anything you needed . We had a P.A W. retail store in Thousand Oaks until they recently closed...the manager there told me they just can't compete in this world of mail order , online business . I miss being able to walk into a store and buy what I need to finish a job instead of calling Summit or Jegs or who ever and waiting 3 days to get the stuff I need .

What about Team C performance in Paramount. They have a pretty good selection of parts.

Can't forget Blair's in Pasadena. It looks the same as when Don Blair owned the shop. Phil Lukens has all the stuff that make a good ole speed shop.

Bud Cornealius Has had Team"C" for many years. But he said that it was impossible to sell things at Mail Order prices. But if you need something Quick and don't mind paying a little more and walk out with it, These old race shops are pretty cool....

What about So-Cal Speed Shop? Up north we have Goodies in San Jose and I believe Gotelli's in South San Francisco.
