I currently run a 350 destroked to 331 chevy engine in my 55 chevy that runs 10.39 at lacr. I want to run in the mid 9's. Can I do it with this engine? and if so, what would be the best way to do it without nitros and a blower?

I had a feeling you would say that, but I want a challenge with my small engine. I like that I can shift at 9500 rpm's. My question is still what can i do if any to get me in the mid 9's with my existing engine.

Hey Glenn , this is Eric (Ranchero driver) I heard that motor of yours singing during the burn out and WOW!!!!! It sounded like it was well over 10,000 rpm coming out of the water . That thing fly's - What does the car weigh? What's the top end of the motor like? I find taking weight off the car is the best thing to do - Other than that you gotta get more fuel to it - what more can you do to that motor - better heads , twin dominators on a sheet metal intake ? What more do you want from a small cube motor ?Holy Cow!!!!!!! What an awesome car you have there

Hey, Eric... Thanks for the compliments on my car. My car weighs 2460 without me in it. Approaching the top end of both gears is where the fun is on this engine. It starts to scream at 7000 rpm's and i shift at 9500 rpm's, however, if i want i can shift at 10,000 rpm's but i choose not to so the engine can live longer. I think you are right about getting better heads, I am thinking of 18 or 15 degree heads and a bigger carb, we'll see. I would like to race c-gas next year, so i need my car to run 9.5's or so.

Glenn, you might want to get ahold of Larry Ofria at Valley Head Service for your heads.

Hey Glenn,
How the heck did you get this car to only weigh 2460? Is it a tube chassis car? Fiberglass, etc???
