Fuel Cell Anodizing

My fuel cell is brand new. It is a typical aluminum dragster tank custom made to fit my chassis. What is your view or experience with having the inside hard anodized. I'm running alcohol and I've heard that over time it will start eating at the aluminum. What has been your experience with this.

Joe,
We just had all of our aluminum sheet metal anodize. We had the fuel tank "hard anodized" . You need to do that because of the fuel attacking the aluminum. It is important that you do it. You must still drain the tank and all your lines and spray your cylinders anytime the engine will be sitting for any length of time. I'm going to use a special hose to go from the pump to a gas can to fire the motor when the race is over. Then all you have to do is drain the tank. Still a good idea to clear the cylinders.

Thanks Sparky, thats exactly what I was told. Who did you use? I talked to Omni metal finish and Danco both in OC. I need to get this done quick.

Had the fuel tank in my A/FX car hard anodized 10 years ago and its still in great shape after 10 years of alcohol.

We got ours done at Ideal Anodizing in northern Anaheim. Got a smokin hot deal, but we got alot done. There may be a minimum. Give them a call @ 714 630-8131. Fast service and good job. We also got good deals on Chrome and Powder Coating if you need it.

Any info on how this turned out? I've inquired at AnoTech in Clovis about doing it and they said "Maybe we can in there..."

My tank was done at the place Sparky mentioned above and it is working great.
