1. I'm looking for a 'good' used portable gas generator, 4500 - 5500w.. Please contact me direct at gruzenracing@aol.com or phone 562 630-4031 with what you may have..Thx
2. I'm also looking at one of those 5500w generators that Pep Boys, Kragen, Auto Zone usually have for sale..Does anyone have any experience with how them perform, noise levels, etc..?? Thx again...Joel

Joel, Lyle had a coleman 5000 he got from home depot. It's a little loud but performs perfectly and will run 20 amps at 220 volts. We ran a water heater, 2 hp air compressor, coffe pot and microwave all at once without popping the breaker. Unfortunatly, we're going to hang on to it. The other one Lyle had is probably too big for what you want, I think it's a 16 hp. Ranger 8000 electric start with a built in 200 amp welding power source and a 50 amp output. But if anybody is interested it will be for sale as soon as I figure out what it's worth.

Joel, In my experience, the Honda powered ones last longer. I agree the biggest difference in the less expensive ones is noise. Be sure to look at how large the fuel tank is. Merry Christmas, Ron

Thanks for your inputs...Yes, I know that the 'noise' levels are a lot higher on the more 'inexpensive' ones...My plan, on whatever I get, is to enclose it on the tongue of the trailer, then run the exhaust out towards the roof..Hopefully, it will cut down on some of the noise... Then again, I'll probably wind up with two empty pit spots on either side of me... lol....Thx again...and
