On a sad note: Ron Bolton, driver of the "Wooly Bully" NE1 altered passed away last Sunday after arriving home from the March Meet from apparent heart failure.

Our deepest sympathies go out to Rons family. Ron Built Lyles first Blown motor and taught me how to tune it. Ron is the one who first got us into nostalgia racing, He talked Lyle int putting that Blown 468 in his 110" WB Roadster and trying it out. (bad idea!! that thing was squirllier than a AA altered). Ron finally agreed that that motor should be put in the funny car chassis before somebody got hurt. While testing with us, Ron decided he wanted to get behind the wheel of his own NE 1 race car so he borrowed Lyles funny car chassis for measurements and the "Wooly Bully" was born! Ron was also the one who told us about the first ANRA race we ever attended, which we won and Gruzens were runner-up. Ron raced the hot rod class with his Comet at that event. We'll miss him, Ron was an icon in the hot rod and boat community.

I remember 2 years ago at the Vegas race, Ron's car was black primer. We drew him in the first round. We came to find out about his roots in drag boats and his path to drag racing... and we became friends (as all do in NE-1, it seems). Racing with Ron was always a pleasure, as he could sport the biggest smile of anyone around. His family was always around him in the pits and at the line. He was a blessed man, and I'm going to miss his big ole smile.
My prayers to his daughter, who never seemed to miss a race. Prayers to the rest of the family as well....
Dale.
