errr......with all the love and help around here anyone want to bleed for a few days and tear my car apart and replace my torque converter AGAIN. I got a whole 27 passes out of the one I just spent $450 to have repaired in my car before it cacked in the semi - final round on Saturday . Had an .07 lead on the light and then dropped 10mph and 6 tenths off my dial as I watched Tom Fidger drive away from me..OUCH! Ended up missing the last Summit race of the first half on Sunday and a chance at going to the race of champions . Do you think the boys at Hughes will understand my displeasure from this situation? Continental Converters here I come!!!!!!!

Eric, I told you that those cheap Hughes converters are JUNK. Look at the one we split apart Only to find cheap bushings instead of bearings. Art Carr, Calif. Perf. Trans. Now this guy knows how to build a convertor. How many time have you had mine on kill, And it keeps coming back for more. Hughes, Bah Hum Bug.

Continental Converters is the only way to go. In all our years of racing we have never had a problem with their products.

Gino has the idea right. The continentals are grenade-proof. We run 3 of em... 2 at 7.60 and one at 9.60 .. and they have been flawless.
Good luck Thingy and Eric on the Topolino... we are all waiting for the arrival of the new and improved Midnight Madness. Either NE2 or 3... makes no diff to me. We just want yall back in the center of the car.

Well, Here's my take on the convertor situation...I've been running California Performance Trans stuff (Art Carr) for about 12 - 13 years now.. He has NO off the shelf stuff...Everything is made to the specs when you talk to Art...Is it 'cheap'...NO..but then again you don't get quality when you get cheap.. Before I'd spend any $$$, I'd invest in a phone call first to see what the situation is....877 278-2277, and that's toll free too.. Couple years ago, Donnie Mathews was running his car at Pomona...Blew the convertor..Art was with me in my pit...Donnie came over, Art made a phone call and Donnie went over and picked it up a few hours later...Installed it in the car and ran 2/10th's quicker then it ever had..As far as I know, it's still in there..Oh, that's Gino's cousin ;D ;D And that's my sermon for the day...

Eric, I ran an art car t/c for years with 0 problems. He can alter them to suit after the fact also. It hooked my truck up on the street running low 9's. I ran a hughes for about 6 months. Never was happy, slipped too much going thru the traps with the bottle on. Then I sold it to a friend for cheap....He loved it. I think he is still running it after many years.
Moral of the story - go with someone who will work with you. Torque converters have personalities just like race cars. Sometimes they just dont mesh.
The "ultra lock up style" with a pressure plate & pedal is more fun...But less consistent. I run Mccleod stuff mostly. If you remember Lester Freeman who had a Cougar when he street raced, He is the clutch tech now at Mccleod.
I am in Santa Paula. Not too far. (805)-933-7442. Ron
