Post by Don Taros on Dec 11, 2007 0:41:19 GMT -5
After reading a few of the posts directed towards my brother Dale's suggestions and reasoning, I thought I would set the record straight on a few things. Dale has been racing F.E.D.'s since he was 16 years old and has competed in just about every sportsman class ever created in many different cars. He has seen what works and what doesn't when it comes to attracting racers to events. He's offering his suggestions to ANRA to help it grow, take them or leave them, but don't EVER question his love of or dedication to racing. We will sit in the stands and watch anything from Top Fuel to Hot Rod and enjoy every minute of it.
Also, to the gutless guest who posted above without posting his name, you obviously don't know nuts about the Taros family and how much fun we've had racing, how many friends we have in many types of drag racing and the success we've had in 50 years in the sport. Just because we would like to race for more money doesn't mean don't have immense fun when we do race.
Oh, and by the way, you will have to worry about us in the Heritage series, I wonder if we need to "worry" about you.

ANRA and the Heritage saries, I think It's gona be a great year for Me and my race team.
Taros and the perfect season, As far back as I can remember, the only other perfect seasons were posted in NHRA alcohol ranks. The first to do it was Gary Scelzi. In the BB/funny, and Rick Santos, In his TA/D. then Dale Taros in NE/1. A small and elight group, Congrats, Can't wait to see you guys back at the track.

Hey Jeff...Actually, it was DON TAROS that had that 'unbeaten' season...Dale, his brother, contributes a 'ton' to the joint Taros' efforts, and you'll just about always see him hanging around the starting line when the NE class is running..They're both 'master students' of the drag race game , and probably retain more statistics then one can imagine. No slouches in that camp..

Before this thing gets way out of hand I want to say that everyone is welcome to come race with ANRA. I know that we don't pay the big bucks and thanks to Jeff and a couple of other races we have be able to increase the amount of pay outs to the racers this year. We are working to get sponsors to increase it for 2008.
That being said I hope that maybe the Taros's and some of the others that have not run with us will some time come race with us. I know that Dale has been to our races helping with a NE III car and I think he knows that we are all about Sportsman racing.
I may have messed up not trying to bring the Fuel cars I understand they bring in the spectators in but my main thing was and is to give the Nostalgia Sportsman racers a place to run and have some fun.
I want to thank everyone that has run with us and helped to support ANRA the last 3 years.
I am not sure just what all 2008 will bring but as I said before ANRA will survive. A post of the sponsors we had for the finals and part of last year are listed at the following link anra.proboards52.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=1193780551

First off, the entire Headrick family has treated me and my club better than we were ever treated at the other events.
I remember when we would race for tropies only and glad for it!
If you really want to see who is willing to race for fun and really wants to support the Sportsman division of Nostalgia Drag Racing then I suggest we eliminate prize money altogether.
just my 2cents, regards, Max Blast Early Riders Rust-T World's Quickest Rat Rod

I couldn't agree with Butch more. I have no bone to pick with any racer....I think everyone should run with us....we just have slightly different priorities.....hope to see you ALL in 2008....

To both Don and Dale, it was not my intention to offend anyone. I type "Mr." as a sign of respect to you, because, to my knowledge we have never met nor do we know each other so that I can write to you on a first name basis. I appaulogize for the confusion.
It was also not my intention to question you commitments, accheivements, or your enthusiaum. But, you should not question anyone elses motive either. For those of us who have been there from day-one know what our motives and limitations are.
Speaking for my team only, we have the means to go NHRA Bracket racing for a living. However, we do not. We prefer to keep it in the family and for the pure enjoyment of being around each other and with good friends. It is my fear that when you talk large purses, than you start pushing the evelope and the whiners, cryers and cheaters come out.
Life happens. And there is more to life than racing. We are dedicated to racing ANRA and the new Heritage Series. We will plan a road trip if required (other than Vegas) to show our colors. Certainly, the winnings will go to paying for the trip(s). But, our resources are budgeted by the first of the year so that we know what we are in for.

Dale, Don, Heck! I'm glad I don't have to race either one of them. The Name "Taros" strikes fear in most NE/1 teams. My boss and ANRA sponsor, Ron Paulk, lost to them in his last NE/1 race, he ran a 7.601.(I think) Then sold his car. Look for Ron in A/Gas Next year.
Thanks Butch,
Merry Christmas to all, and to all leave straight!

Mr. Gino, The 2 A/G cars are not new, they would be new to ANRA. John Overholser's 56 chevy and Dave Torgrimsons 63 Vette. They are both in the same shop, so give them a call at 559-485-4543. Rumor has it that Ken Christensons car may be done also. That makes 3. Murph.
