HI All, Lets all sit down together and see what happens, I was able to run with o/w when bernie brought back the ndra series, but that was bernie, My hope is to run with you and have as much fun as you do. there is really no place for the car in brackets, pro or super pro. but the car is a blast to drive and I really don't to get rid of it, or build a new car. let's all get to gether and see what we can work out?

Isn't the HAMB car that ran at the last race "rear engined"? Maybe let this car run in O/W?

Howdy,
If you're refering to the green HAMBster it's what we Yanks dubbed a rear engine car back then (in actuality a mid engine car). There was a small handful of such "middie" cars around in our period of representation, most with flattie V8s.
Our cars (HA/GR) are based on 1950 technologies, engineering and designs, using up to '62 engines (inliners and flattie V8s only), for availability, cost and because there were few technical changes. Carbs and gas only and 6", bias ply, street treaded tires only. They represent the earliest "rail jobs", those so named for their use of open frame rails that is.
I'm by no means posing an argument against your inclusion in ANRA, but I don't think the class we're trying to promote (presently allowed to run with O/W) relates to a 20 year newer car, nor would I claim it to.

Howdy oldrodder, Thank you for your input!! I have been trying to work with Butch on a way I can join ANRA and run with them. alot of the people in ANRA are very good friends, as stated the car is a 1971 first gen rear motor car, I have run the car at many NHRA events, and about 900 passes at LACR. and many of the NHRA tracks around the country, BUT IT'S TIME to COME HOME and PLAY WITH MY FRIENDS. That Is the reason I have been working with Butch. Also as many here have stated WE cannot afford NHRA big money events. I know your cars as I started in racing at old river grade road drag strip in 1958 long before it became IRWINDALE then the beer company closed it forever. You and I may know many of the same people. Also I was the driver of the SRS front motor fuel car (Stevens Robinson Smith) in the 60s. Bill

I am torn on this subject. We allow '79 and older F/C and door slammers, but the dragsters have to be front motor, which came about 71-72......I would have to say it would have to be a seperate class all together if you can find 6-7 other guys to run with similar cars. My dad ran Comp Eliminator up 'til 1979 and to be honest, I wouldn't want to see any late 70's rear engine cars out there....too close too Super Comp......sorry, just my opinion.
